Mihin Lanka expands flight operations via Mattala


Tuesday23rd September, 2014, Colombo: Mihin Lanka has now increased thenumber of flights operating via Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA).

 

The three destinations that MihinLanka operates flights to in the Indian subcontinent via MRIA include Madurai, Gayaand Varanasi. The airlinealso operates seasonal flights to Medan in Indonesia via MRIA.

 

As Sri Lanka's only low-cost airline,Mihin Lanka strives to promote MRIA, an international aviation hub created byHis Excellency President Mahinda Rajapaksa to spearhead the development of thecountry. The state-of-the-art international airport is strategically located toconnect to over 60 percent of the world within eight hours and boasts a vast12,000 square-meter international terminal building as well as a duty freesection spanning one million square feet.

 

Mihin Lanka operates flights acrossthe region to sacred places that are of significance to people of differentreligions. The airline's most popular pilgrimage routes for Buddhist pilgrims;Gaya and Varanasi also operate via Mattala. Hence passengers travelling forpilgrimages to Gaya and Varanasi as well as for business purposes to Madurai,can now embark or disembark at MRIA.
